coffee break ver. 1.1

With yesterday's observation of Palm Sunday, it quietly signifies the beginning of the Lenten Season. Catholics and Christians all over the world take time out to observe Christ's passion for a week year after year.

Here in our country, every individual has his own way of observing the Holy Week. Some attend retreats for spiritual healing and renewal. Some visit churches, also called Visita Iglesia, to experience what Christ went through by praying the Way of the Cross. For some individuals, the Lenten Season may mean a time to relax by going on out-of-town trips with family and friends. It could also mean parties and merry-making for some who feel this is their only chance to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

by Rosemary Buffoni

Given the respect and understanding that we all have our free will to choose how we spend the Holy Week, our coffee break begins with this thought in mind:

Is your Lenten Season
a time for reflection
or a time for relaxation?

i think i have been in reflective mood the past months, i think i would take this time to relax.

on the other hand, i'm still as confused (hmmm, that may be an overstatement, lol) as last year, so i would probably end up reflecting this lent season.

the lenten season should be a time of reflection. these are one of the acts that we can do to show God how much we appreciate and love Him.

For us here in Aussie,, it's a time for relaxation,, because we have long weekend. Public holiday on Friday till Monday.. That is the time to go away with the family... Do some reflections and be thankful for all the blessings that I'm getting with my family... So for me it's both..... You have to be relaxed to reflect better...

this is my first holy week as a mom so i really don't know if i can relax or reflect this year. however, i will definitely try to offer each moment, each thought, each action to Jesus Christ this week.

i believe that the lenten season is a bit of both, it gives us the opportunity to bring into focus the reason why we believe what we believe during the first few days (from Palm Sunday to Saturday) where we remember and reflect on the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus and refresh our relationship with our Saviour. By the end of the week we have the chance to celebrate and enjoy the benefits that come from His sacrifice through His resurrection as we celebrate Easter and rest and 'relax' in the knowledge that what He has done is truly and ultimately sufficient because He is Risen!

it's good that there are still some people who take time to talk about the holy week. i went blog hopping and this is the only post that talked about it.

Hmmm.. Actually it's both. I relax at hone then reflect. For how many years that I celebrated Lenten Season I never had a chance to go in an out-of-town trip or even do the Visita Iglesia.

the lenten season can be both a time for reflection and relaxation. the best time to reflect is when you're out of your usual routines and on a different place. so even if we're out somewhere, lets try to take some time to reflect and remember the passion of Christ.

Waah! I am so late in commenting. :D

Heniways, now I have time na and here's what I think. When I was still young and single, I used to attend every single activity in the parish - washing of the feet, easter vigil, salubong on Easter Sunday, etc. But I am not sure now if I did reflect and became a better person afterwards. LOL! But I viewed it (attendance) as an obligation.

When I got married and became a mother, I'd rather spend the Holy Week with my family. Since my husband former job required him to travel often, each weekend and holiday with him is precious. We stay home and attend Mass on Easter Sunday.

And now that I am older (and I hope, wiser!), Easter Sunday is still the day. We relax and do things at home as a family. Reflection, it is a usual activity. Usually triggered by an experience or a problem. Hindi lang every lenten season. :)

That's it. Ang dami kong nasabi. Haha! Thanks, Jan! Til next coffee break!
